Smart City works gain momentum in Kakinada
Kakinada: The city, which is known as pensioners’ paradise for decades, is transforming into an economic destination with Smart City tag. This is being achieved with economically vibrant, inclusive, liveable and sustainable growth based on strengths of the two deep water and anchorage ports with marina and tourism to its credit.
The projects were proposed under Smart City mission that covers sectors like education, open spaces, culture besides economy, mobility and slum development. In addition to this, safety, ICT solutions, broader areas of urban infrastructure development.
Majority of Smart City projects have been proposed on a pilot basis in 1,375 acres in 5.5 sq km in Kakinada Municipal Corporation area. In total, a sum of Rs 592 core worth projects are at different stages of implementation. Kakinada Smart City Corporation Limited (KSCCL) is implementing Rs 268 crore worth projects.
In addition to this, Bhagyanagar Gas Limited and Kakinada Municipal Corporation are coming together with detailed project reports at a cost of Rs 600 core for which bids will be invited in July and Aug 2018 by KSCCL.
Apart from this solid waste management, emergency call box, disaster management, smart parking, red light violation detection system, automatic number plate recognition system and allied activity also given a top priority under Smart City activities.
