Chittoor: Minister Nara Lokesh likely to contest from Kuppam Assembly constituency in the next polls as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, father of Lokesh, may opt one the Assembly segments either in Krishna or Guntur districts. However, the TDP district leaders want Chandrababu to contest from Kuppam only.

According to TDP sources, Lokesh is keen on contesting for the ensuing Assembly polls from his native district. A week ago, he visited Kuppam and reviewed development works with district officials and local TDP leaders.

The Minister gave a roadmap for Kuppam development to district officials as the Chief Minister is busy with reviewing the construction of Polavaram Project and capital city Amaravati. Considering Kuppam as safe seat for Lokesh, Chandrababu wants to field Lokesh in the segment represented by him.

Meanwhile, the district party leaders made an appeal to the Chief Minister to appoint Lokesh as Chittoor in-charge Minister in the place of existing district in-charge Atchannaidu, who is not finding time to concentrate on the district.

Speaking to The Hans India, TDP MLC G Srinivasulu stated Chandrababu had elected from Kuppam as MLA for six times. “Kuppam people are not willing to accept any other leader as MLA except Chandrababu,” he mentioned.
