Naval officer gets rousing reception

Visakhapatnam: Lieutenant Commander P Swathi, one of the six women naval officers, who recently completed a mission to circumnavigate the world on a navy yacht - the INSV Tarini, was accorded a warm welcome by students, NCC cadets, naval personnel and others upon her arrival here on Saturday.
The women crew of the INSV Tarini managed the whole operation in their first ever global journey. The voyage was finished on May 21 when the crew returned to Goa after calling Fremantle Australia, Lyttelton, New Zealand, Port Stanley, Falklands, and Cape Town, South Africa and a forced technical halt at Port Louis, Mauritius.
Expressing her happiness over warm welcome, Swathi said that the latest achievement proved that the women also can do miracles, but one should have commitment.
“With the support from the colleagues and parents, I achieved success. Women should come forward in all sectors and register new milestones in future. In any assignment, pressure and challenges are common, one should face and fight. I am very proud to be one of the members in the voyage,” Swathi said.
