Postal stamp on Inner Wheel Club released

Vijayawada: Releasing the postal stamp in connection with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Inner Wheel Club of Vijayawada here on Saturday, G Rashmi, Golden Jubilee president of the club, thanked everyone for the successful completion of her one-year term in the office and implementation of various scheme for the welfare of society through club.

Elaborating the welfare works the club has undertaken, G Rashmi told the media that the club had developed 17 schools in the limits of the municipal corporation by providing several amenities. She said that hand wash sinks were set up and water purifiers were provided in all the schools.

According to her, the club provided 142 benches for the students and 26 chairs for the teachers in 12 schools, almirahs for seven schools, digital literacy equipment for one school, kitchen garden to one school, schools bags for 550 students and shoes for 610 students. 

”When there was no water facility in three schools, borewell were sunk and motors were provided,” she added.

For the first time, sanitary napkin incinerators were provided to a girls high school at Patamatalanka, said V Sridevi, chairperson of Inner Wheel Club district 302. “The incinerator would help burn the sanitary napkins to a handful ash which otherwise would clog the drains,” she added.

Hailing the activities of the Inner Wheel Club of Vijayawada, Sridevi said that the District Collector extended Rs 4.5 lakh for purchasing spectacles to 1,285 students in the municipal schools after it was found that the vision of many of the students was not good during the checkup.

The Inner Wheel Club had spent Rs 45 lakh this year for all these activities, she added.
