33,336 candidates turn up for APSET
Visakhapatnam: Andhra University has conducted Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET)-2018 on behalf of the state government for the third time successfully. A total of 42,663 candidates have applied for the test. Of them, 33,336 (78.14 per cent) candidates attended the examination held at six regional centres, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Guntur, Nellore, Anantapur and Tirupati.
Andhra University Vice Chancellor G Nageswar Rao along with Krishna University Vice Chancellor S Rama Krishna Rao has selected the test set code-F for the APSET-2018 examination at Andhra University Platinum Jubilee Hall here on Sunday at 6.30 am.
The APSET was conducted in 31 subjects and the life sciences stream has received highest number of 5,138 applications and only 20 applications were received towards linguistics.
The SET/NET is considered for recruitment of lecturers and assistant professors in universities, degree colleges and institutes of higher learning and to carry out research work like M Phil and PhD. After University Grants Commission (UGC) gave its green signal to Andhra University to conduct State Eligibility Test, AU officials had conducted the exams in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The varsity deployed 1,778 invigilators, 67 observers and 18 special observers at 67 exam centres for the smooth conduct of the test. The final key of examination will be announced on July 20 and the results will be announced in August.
