Vizianagaram: The government has strengthened the police department by appointing another IPS officer here and now, the district has four IPS officers. Recently, the government posted IPS officer Gouthami Sali at Bobbili as the SDPO in the place of Sowmya Latha. With this, the number of IPS officers in this district has reached four.

Deepika Patil is working in Parvathipuram as the SDPO and Vikranth Patil is working as the OSD in Vizianagaram and now Gouthami Sali and Palaraju are two IPS officers here.

This is a good sign to curb the crime rate with more efficiency. Ganja from Vizag agency was being transported to Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata via Vizianagaram and the police nabbed many traffickers in the past few months.

The banned gutka and some other tobacco products also being transported from Chhattisgarh, Odisha to Vizianagaram through trains and vans. This type of illegal activities has been on the rise in the district in the past few months. Now, the young officers need to concentrate on these issues and minimise the crime rate here, said Superintendent of Police G Palaraju.
