YSRCP accuses Modi, Naidu of betraying AP
Anantapur: The YSRCP's ‘Vanchana Pai Garjana Deeksha’ which started at 10 am on Monday ended on a successful note with large number of people, party activists and leaders from all over the State taking part. The city was decorated with YSRCP flags and flexies of leaders.
Five former MPs of the party Y V Subba Reddy, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, Y S Avinash Reddy, V Varaprasada Rao and P V Mithun Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had betrayed the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Ex-MP Mithun Reddy explained the sequence of events and their agitation including hunger strike which finally led to their resignations from Parliament to exert pressure on the Centre to fulfil the promises made to AP. He denounced the double standards of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the promise of Special Category Status (SCS).
Former MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy called upon the people of Anantapur not to commit the mistake of voting for TDP. “You had elected only two YSRCP candidates to Assembly and gave the TDP 12 seats in 2014.
If you commit the same mistake again and make Chandrababu Chief Minister again, it will be an extension of five years of hell,” he said. Mekapati described Naidu as a leader who speaks lies and indulges in deception and fooling the people, assuming that public memory is short.
He hailed YSRCP chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for relentlessly fighting for the SCS for the last four years. He flayed Chandrababu Naidu for taking U-turn twice on the same issue.
Mekapati said that Prime Minister Modi stands as accused No.1 and Chandrababu Naidu as accused No.2 in the people's court. These two leaders practised treachery by openly promising SCS and made their pledge redundant.
He described Naidu as most wicked and dangerous person and his continuance as Chief Minister would harm the people. “Naidu is a tactful and astute politician. After watching the series of debacles of BJP in UP, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and in other states, he realised that the Modi magic was on the wane and distanced himself from the BJP,” Mekapati said.
The former Nellore MP made it clear that the YSRCP will fight the 2019 elections alone and will not have alliance with any other party. The YSRCP will take a stand at the national level after the elections considering the then political equations..
Senior YSRCP leader Botcha Satyanarayana said that 4 years of TDP rule saw betrayal and deception of people. He cautioned the people of the state not to get deceived once again. He said Chandrababu Naidu foisted cases against the YSRCP workers who took part in agitations for the SCS. He accused Naidu of confusing the people with his frequent U-turns on important issues.
Produttur MLA R Prasad Reddy described MLAs who defected to TDP as animals who allowed themselves to be purchased. Former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and Raptadu coordinator Topudurthi Prakash said the TDP would meet its waterloo in 2019 elections.
