Dalita Tejam success jolts YCP

Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said the YSRCP suffered a jolt with the massive success of Dalita Tejam organised here. He participated in various programmes in Sarvepalli Assembly constituency. 

He visited Podalakur and inspected the Kandaleru dam on Monday. Speaking to the media, the Minister said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had enhanced the units of free power supply from 75 to 100 units, Rs 2 lakh for individual housing and also Rs 250 crore for housing to the Dalits. 

Refuting Opposition allegations, he said the state government did not diverted any funds allocated under SC sub plan and utilised them for their development only. 

Somireddy stated the government has set a target of providing water for irrigation to 24,500 acres under Kandaleru Left Canal and 9,000 acres under Somasila South Canal for the next season. Minister has informed that they would arrange mineral water plant in Podalakur at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore under NTR Sujala Sravanthi Scheme.

He also explained that they would supply drinking water to all villages in Podalakur mandal with seven water tankers.  Measures would be taken to inaugurate the water tank being constructed in the mandal headquarters with Rs 46 lakh, Somireddy mentioned. 

The Minister informed that they had directed the officials to prepare proposals for setting up GI pipes to the water scheme in Podalakur. He added that the water scheme has been providing drinking water for 40,000 people in Podalakur and to the nearby villages.

He explained that they had taken up repairs to the scheme with Rs 4 lakh from his own funds. The Minister further said that they would provide drinking water to rural areas with Rs 1,600 crore. Local leaders were present.
