Rain brings cheer to denizens

Vijayawada: Denizens of Vijayawada had a respite on Monday evening from scorching heat when the skies suddenly opened and sent down a sharp downpour. At about 4 pm, weather changed with thick black clouds began forming a canopy over the city. In minutes, sheets of rain lashed the city for about 20 minutes. Since morning, sweltering heat made life miserable for the residents of the city. 

The prolonged dry conditions made people worry as it is time for monsoon to set over the state and become vigorous. By evening, the weather changed, brining smiles on the face of the residents of the city.

As usual, water logging took place on main roads in testimony to the ruling class’ lack of interest in finding a solution to the decades-old problem.  Vehicular traffic suffered the most as in no time, water began overflowing on roads in Moghulrajpuram, Eluru Road and low bridge near Kaleswara Rao Market.
