3,328 riders booked for helmetless driving

Guntur: Transport department booked as many as 3,328 cases against the two-wheeler riders in the district during June.

The officials conducted inspection and booked the cases against helmetless riders. They took photographs of the two-wheeler riders without helmet and sent the same to their residential address to collect penalty.

The helmetless drivers would have to pay Rs 600 penalty for riding the vehicle in violation of motor vehicles Act. If violation repeated for second time, they will collect Rs 1,200.

Deputy Transport Commissioner GC Rajaratnam urged the two-wheeler riders to wear helmet and follow the traffic rules.
