Expedite Rurban works

Kurnool: District Collector S Satyanarayana has instructed the officials concerned to expedite the Rurban works (village modernisation) by providing basic amenities during a meeting convened with the officials at his camp office here on Tuesday.

He reviewed the ongoing development works with officials in Alur mandal taken up under the Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (SPMRM). Addressing the officials, the Collector said the government has directed to provide basic amenities in 11 villages of Alur mandal. The government has sanctioned Rs 34 crore for the first phase of works, he stated.

The selected villages would be provided with safe drinking water, laying cement concrete roads, construction of underground drainage system, management of solid waste, providing training for beneficiaries through skill development centres, construction of compound walls and kitchen sheds.

The Collector asked officials to complete the works pertaining to power supply, interior concrete roads, underground drainage system, culverts and compound walls by the end of July. When asked about the laying drinking water pipeline from Bapuram to Alur taken up at a cost of Rs 8.83 crore, the officials said works are at various stages.

Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Visweswara Naidu, Alur Mandal Parishad Development Officer Vijay Bhaskar, AP Transco Superintending Engineer Suresh Kumar, RWS Superintending Engineer Hari Babu, District Panchayat Officer Prabhakar Rao, Panchayat Raj Superintending Engineer Subbarayudu and other officials were present.
