Tirupati: Consortium of Indian Farmers Association (CIFA) adviser Peddireddy Chengal Reddy urged the farmers in the state to submit revised petitions to Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) for getting compensation for the loss of value of their land due to erection of transmission towers and overhead power lines by electricity companies.

Speaking to media along with Federation of Farmers Association (SSA) state president Mangati Gopal Reddy here on Wednesday, Chengal Reddy  said that though the APERC issued orders for payment of compensation to farmers for laying transmission towers and lines in their land in 2007, the farmers were yet to get the compensation as the orders were kept in dark.

“The APERC, following representations from farmers associations, issued orders for compensation to farmers under Electricity Act, 2003, and Works of Licenses Rules 2007 and they came into effect in the same year i.e. 2007. But it came to light only last month after I represented to APERC for the payment of compensation to the farmers’’ he said.

The farmers whose application for compensation is pending should send revised petitions to the authority concerned for getting compensation, he said, asking the farmers to approach FFA leaders in the district to guide them. Gopal Reddy said that farmers in Chittoor district can contact him (9849043451) for guidance in seeking compensation.
