Six die, 8 injured as auto rams into tipper

Kakinada: Six persons including three children died in road accident near Five Culverts area at Samarlakota at about 1 am on Tuesday. According to details available, a marriage party boarded an auto-rikckshaw at Vadlamuru village in Peddapuram mandal to go to Pedapudi.

At the Five Culverts area, the auto-rickshaw  in which they were travelling crashed into a  tipper coming in the opposite direction. Four persons died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Eight persons were injured in the mishap.

The deceased were identified as Saladi Nagamani (35), Nokku Kamalamma (30), Nokku Pandu (3 year)  Nokku Lakshmi (5 ), Penke Raju (50) (auto driver) and Kurada Manga (38). They belonged to Rameswaram in Pedapudi mandal. Those injured are Jalimi Venkatalakshmi (25), Nokku Chakram (36) , Batchu Bhulakshmi (40), Polapakura Lova kumari (36), Galla Annavaram (50), D Chinapapa (49), I Prasanthi (25)  and Y Varalaxmi (45). They were shifted   to Kakinada Government Hospital.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister N Chinarajappa visited the injured at the hospital and later visited Area Hospital in Peddapuram to console the kin of the deceased.

When contacted, the Deputy Chief Minister told The Hans India that Chandranna Bima would be extended to the deceased and to the injured as applicable.
