AP Ration shop dealers warned of stern action

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Food Safety Commission Chairman JR Pushparaj conducted surprise checks on fair price shops and Anganwadi Centre at Sabjapadu village in Mylavaram mandal in Krishna district on Wednesday. He said that in all 1,44,70,000 ration cardholders should get the ration in time and whoever violates the rule, action will be taken against them. 

The chairman warned the dealer Satyanarayana for his harsh behaviour towards cardholders and for not opening the depot in time and improper weighing of commodities. On receiving complaints against the dealer from the local residents, Pushparaj warned him of severe action if he does not change his attitude. 

The Chairman said with a few dealers like Satyanarayana, the reputation of the government was getting spoiled. G Ravi Babu, director of the civil supplies department, said that the commission of the dealers was increased by the government from Rs 20 to Rs 70 per quintal. He said that the dealers should supply commodities with correct weight to cardholders else stern action will be taken against the dealers. 

Later, Pushparaj visited Anganwadi Centre and observed the supply of nutritious food to the children, pregnant and lactating women. He tasted the egg white and noticed that it was less than 40 grams. He ordered the ICDS officers to follow the government norms before purchasing eggs, which should not be less than 45 grams. DSO Nageswara Rao, deputy supplying officer Komali Padma, tahsildar Sivaiah were present.
