Alluri’s native village to be a tourist destination

Visakhapatnam: The government has decided to develop the Pandranki village as a tourist destination, said Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao. Pandranki in Padmanabham mandal is the native village of freedom fighter Alluri Sitaramaju and a memorial was constructed at the village.

The district administration celebrated Alluri Sitaramaraju’s 121st  birth anniversary at Pandranki village on Wednesday. The minister was the chief guest at the celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the government has decided to construct a museum, park and youth training centre in the village.

Pandranki village would be developed by laying CC roads, underground drainage and drinking water scheme at a cost of Rs 2 crore. Already Rs 55 lakh was sanctioned for the construction of school building in the village. The bridge on Gosthani river would be sanctioned soon. Proposals were sent to NABARD for sanction of Rs 9.8 crore funds to construct the bridge, the minister said.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Pravin Kumar called upon the youth to draw inspiration from Alluri Sitaramaraju’s selfless service to the nation. Veteran actor Rajendraprasad was present at the celebrations. On the occasion, Rajendraprasad enthralled audience with comedy skits, along with a magic programme,  performed by a magician, Earlier, the minister laid the foundation stones for various development works in the village.
