Pingali Venkayya remembered on 55th death anniversary

Bapatla: The 55th death anniversary of Pingali Venkayya who designed the Indian National Flag and brought fame to Telugu people was observed on Wednesday under the aegis of Forum For Better Bapatla.

His statue near railway station was garlanded and rich tributes were paid to the great leader.

Speaking on this occasion, the forum secretary, PC Saibabu reminded efforts made by Venkayya to prepare the national flag. He was a freedom-fighter and was credited with coming up with the design of our Tricolor.

He said that Venkayya was the unsung hero of our freedom struggle. He was also honoured with a postal stamp in 2009 for his contribution towards freedom struggle.

AVV High School head master SVR Prasad, teachers Umamaheswara Rao, D Bsavaraju and students were present.
