Anna canteens to be opened in Ongole by July 11: Minister P Narayana
Ongole: Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana visited the Anna Canteens under construction in Ongole and announced that they will start functioning from July 11.
On Thursday morning, the minister inspected the works of the Anna canteens going on at Kothapatnam Bus Stand center, Old RIMS Hospital building, New Vegetable Market area along with the local MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao. He ordered the contractors to speed up the works and finish them as soon as possible.
Narayana said that about 200 Anna canteens were getting ready across the state for inauguration. He said that the chief minister decided to provide food to the poor people as he understands that the people coming to towns for various works were mostly starving.
He said that the chief minister had created a record of implementing 190 welfare schemes. The minister said that the civil supplies department and local bodies jointly run the Anna canteens. He announced that they had introduced already a special budget with Rs 200 crore for the maintenance of Anna canteens.
He said that the government was committed to provide food to the poor people with just Rs 5 by bearing the remaining expenditure as subsidy. He announced that 100 Anna canteens would be opened on July 11 in the first phase and depending on the response to them, the second phase canteens would be started.
MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao thanked the Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu and minister Narayana for allotting four Anna canteens to Ongole. He assured that with the blessings of the chief minister, the development works in Ongole would go on smoothly.
