Attack on Kanna: Police book BJP activists too
Nellore: Kavali police registered cases against the BJP supporters who attacked the person who hurled footwear at BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana on Wednesday during a rally in the town.
It may be recalled that Gottipati Umamaheswara Rao from Prakasam district, who was present in Kavali town at the time of the rally, threw his footwear at Lakshminarayana to express his anger at the Prime Minister for the injustice done to the state.
He told police that he attacked the state BJP chief unable to bear the anguish at the treatment of the state by the Centre. But, soon after the incident, infuriated BJP cadres attacked him brutally in the presence of police who registered a case against him.
Kavali DSP K Raghu said on Thursday that they had registered cases against BJP workers who roughed up the accused in the case. They had collected video footage and were identifying the persons who beat up Umamaheswara Rao taking law into their hands.
