Left stages protest against NDA government in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: The leaders of Left parties staged a protest at Lenin Centre here on Friday as a part of state-wide protest call given by them against the Central government. They also burnt the effigies of BJP-led NDA government. They criticised the Centre for its negligence on the implementation of AP Reorganisation Act.
CPM state committee member Ch Babu Rao said that the Centre once again cheated the people of the state by giving false answers to the Supreme Court. The BJP has no respect towards the democratic parliamentary system, he said.
He called upon people to extend their support to the agitations for Special Status and other demands towards the implementation of AP Reorganisation Act. He asked people to teach a befitting lesson to the BJP by casting vote against it in the next elections. He asked various political parties to come out from the Centre’s influence for protecting the interests of the state.
CPI city secretary Donepudi Sankar said that the Centre in unequivocal terms filed the affidavit in the Supreme Court that it would not give Special Status to Andhra Pradesh.
The Central government was cheating people though it gave assurances, including railway zone, Special Status and Kadapa steel factory. He said that the Centre did not implement even a single promise.
