5-member Blade gang busted
Guntur: The government railway police busted a five-member blade gang and recovered Rs 31.57 lakh from them on Saturday.
According to Railway Superintendent of Police KV Mohan Rao, Vemula Venkatesh, who was working in SP Jewellers in Vijayawada, was going to Chennai in Navajeevan Express to purchase gold on February 19. When the train reached Tenali station, a blade gang snatched his cash bag.
When Venkatesh lodged a complaint with railway police, they chased the gang. However, as soon as they saw the railway police, the gang members managed to escape in dark.
During investigation, the railway police found that another clerk K Dhanumjaya, who was working in the same jewellery shop, had contacts with blade batch in Vijayawada.
The gang prepared a plan to snatch the cash bag from Venkatesh and executed it.
The GRP team arrested the five-member blade batch at Gangireddula Dibba in Vijayawada and produced them before the Railway Superintendent of Police and recovered Rs 31.57 lakh cash from them.
