Adarana scheme-2 to be implemented from August 15

Vijayawada: BC Welfare Minister K Atchannaidu has said that the government would introduce Adarana scheme-2 from August 15. Addressing a workshop on Adarana scheme here on Saturday, Atchannaidu said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would launch the scheme as per the schedule.

Under the scheme, he said the government would give modern tools to four lakh handmade artisans and added the government had already invited tenders for modern tools in this regard. Stating the artisans of backward classes are deprived of development due to various reasons, he said, now, the government would extend help to them. The minister also said the government had allocated Rs 700 crore for the welfare of backward classes against the previous allocation of Rs 100 crore and added the TDP government has special interest on the welfare of backward classes. 

BC Welfare department principal secretary B Udayalakshmi said the government would select the beneficiaries in mandals and municipalities and added meetings would be conducted at village-level for selecting the beneficiaries from July 14-19. She said the selection process would be completed by July 28.  BC Corporation MD Rama Rao and several officials were also present.
