Anantapur: CPM central committee member V Srinivasa Rao took a dig at the ruling TD and BJP-led NDA governments for ignoring the causes, demands and struggles of farmers despite the party launching agitation in support of their demands for over 3 months.

Addressing a party meeting here on Saturday, Srinivasa Rao revealed that the CPM would not only intensify struggles but also work with likeminded parties and fight together.

He said that the TDP government has not paid loan waiver dues of Rs 1,200 crore pertaining to third and fourth phases to the district farmers.

The CPM leader accused the Centre of betraying the farmers by going back on its promise to pay minimum support price to farm produce and failing to implement the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.

Rao reiterated that the struggles would continue until the rulers bend to farmers’ demands. CPM district secretary Ram Bhoopal and other leaders Nallappa, Savithri and Srinivasulu also spoke.
