Zilla Parishad general body meeting : No dengue deaths in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Minister for Roads and Buildings Ayyanna Patrudu on behalf of medical and health department released the health bulletin at the general body meeting of Zilla Parishad here on Saturday.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Lalam Bhavani thanked the political leaders, sarpanches and district officials for striving for the all-round development of the district and bagging the national awards in the past four years.

During the meeting, Bhavani said that a few development works at the tribal plain areas in the agency are yet to be taken up and the district medical and health officials should take preventive measures to eradicate seasonal diseases by deploying their men with necessary medicines and equipment to provide  medical assistance at the primary health centres in rural areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Roads and Buildings Ch Ayyanna Patrudu said that according to the district medical health department report many suspected dengue and malaria cases were reported from the agency areas in the district, but not even single death case was recorded this year. 

He said that the local leaders, along with DMHO and panchayat raj officials, should create awareness among the tribals to keep their surroundings clean.

Meanwhile, MLC MVVS Murthy opposing the claim of the minister, who said that no dengue and malaria deaths were reported, he reminded that  two persons died while undergoing treatment for dengue and malaria at a private hospital in the city.

District Collector K Pravin Kumar said that the district medical officials are identifying the people suffering from seasonal diseases at rural areas with the help of mobile PHC vans and according to the patient condition and severity of their disease, the officials were providing treatment and if the condition was serious, then immediately the officials are shifting the patient to the KGH for better treatment.
