Governor urges Profs to work with commitment towards society
Srikakulam: Professors and executive council members of universities should work with commitment towards society, suggested Governor ESL Narasimhan. He visited BR Ambedkar University (BRAU) at Etcherla near Srikakulam on Monday.
On the occasion, he conducted a meeting with university officials along with Human Resources Development Minister G Srinivasa Rao. He said education has the power to bring about changes and improvement in society. He called upon the teaching staff in universities to work with dedication for progress of society.
He said job-oriented courses must be introduced at university level while imparting quality education to students. The Governor suggested that students of the university should conduct study at village level on implementation of various programmes and its impact on the society. The study should be an assessment, he added.
Narasimhan said universities should be central points for research. He pointed out that Srikakulam has rich natural resources and medicinal plants. Later, the Governor had an interactive session with teaching, non-teaching staff and students.
He urged the teachers to work with commitment and students to focus on their studies. Narasimhan visited a photo exhibition arranged by the BRAU officials at their campus reflecting the progress achieved by the university so far. In the afternoon, he inaugurated hostel buildings of lady students.
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, BRAU Vice-Chancellor K Ramji and others spoke on the occasion. Earlier, on his arrival in the district, the Governor received a warm welcome from Minister for Energy K Kala Venkata Rao, Transport Minister K Atchannaidu, District Collector K Dhanunajaya Redy, Joint Collector KVN Chakradhara Babu, SP Dr C M Trivikrama Varma and the university officials.
