Kanna Lakshminarayana loses cool as Special Category Status protester disrupts rally
Ongole: The demand for the Special Category Status (SCS) is haunted the BJP Andhra Pradesh president Kanna Lakshminarayana, when a man created flutter at a rally in which he was participating here on Monday. As the result, he lost his cool and even accused the media of being politically biased.
Kanna Lakshminarayana is touring all districts in the state after he took charge as the president of state BJP. Prakasam district is the last district in the tour and he was scheduled to take part in a meeting at Tanguturu before coming to Ongole from Kavali on Monday morning.
But the meeting was cancelled as the local TDP leaders Kamani Vijaykumar, Chadalavada Chandrasekhar, Katragadda Anil Kumar and other people staged a human chain and protest on the national highway. They demanded the BJP to implement the promises in bifurcation bill, give funds to Polavaram, Vizag railway zone and establish Kadapa steel plant.
By the time the rally of BJP leaders, including Kanna Lakshminarayna and Daggubati Purandeswari reached the collectorate, an activist M Srinivasa Rao, an RMP doctor by profession, raised slogans in support of the SCS and showed a placard demanding the same.
The BJP workers immediately started to beat him black and blue but he was rescued by the police who took him into custody and shifted him to II Town police station.
Responding to all these incidents at a press meet, Kanna lost his cool and said that the TDP workers were trying to attack him. When questioned how the BJP workers were trying to silence the people who are asking the SCS, he said that there was no SCS but it is similar package Modi had offered. He said that his party workers thought that a group of people were barging ahead to attack him and manhandled the person.
He alleged that the media was politically motivated and advised them to educate people on how to submit representations to leaders like him. When the media offered to show video clips of BJP cadres attacking the protester, he advised his party men to not attack any one just for demanding special category status.
