Man gets lifer for rape, murder

Vizianagaram: The district additional first-class magistrate has awarded life imprisonment for an accused in rape and murder case and another accused was awarded three years of jail. 

The sensational inhuman incident was taken place at Reddayyavalasa village of Seethanagaram mandal in September 2017. The victim M Indira was studying in ZP high school. P Sankara Rao of Gadelavalasa and his friend Ch Lokesh have stopped her on the way while coming from school and raped and killed her. Later the duo dumped her body in nearby water tank. 

Following a complaint lodged by her father Srinivas, the police started investigation and recovered her body near water tank. After investigation, the police arrested the duo on rape and murder charges. Magistrate A Varaprasad delivered the judgement. The court imposed a penalty of Rs 45,000 on accused Sankara Rao apart from life time imprisonment.
