Phase 1 of Veligonda project to be over by March 2019
Darsi: Minister for Environment, Forests, Science and Technology Siddha Raghava Rao asked the people’s representatives to inform the public about the welfare schemes taken up by the government and encourage them to utilise the programmes.
He conducted a review meeting with the officials in Donakonda Mandal Parishad office and announced that the Veligonda project would be completed soon.
In the meeting, Raghava Rao said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu proposed the linking of rivers to make the state as a drought-free state. To encourage the optimum utilisation of water, he said that the chief minister introduced Neeru Chettu, Neeru Pragati schemes and encouraged construction of check dams.
He announced that the chief minister was committed to complete the Polavaram project on a war-footing. He said that the government had taken initiative to complete the Veligonda project by March and provide drinking and irrigation water to the people in the district.
The minister said that works worth Rs 2,200 crore were done in Darsi Assembly constituency in the last four years. He assured the public that Donakonda would be a major destination for companies in India soon and the chief minister was working to bring industries to the Donakonda industrial zone. He asked the leaders to inform the public about the development works being taken up by the government.
