Pilgrims at Simikot face food, water shortage

Guntur: As many as 130 pilgrims who went on Mansarovar yatra from Guntur district were stranded at Simikot in Nepal due to avalanche and un-favourable atmosphere. They have been shifted to Simikot from Hilsa in Napal. 

It will take another one week to come home. Due to bad weather conditions, flights have been cancelled. But the situation of stranded pilgrims is turning worse with  drinking water and medicines. Food too was exhausted and diabetics and hypertension patients  are facing lot problems. Communication network was restored only on Tuesday night after three days. 

The pilgrims paid Rs 1.8 lakh per head for Mansarovar yatra, but due to unexpected situation, the travel agent is demanding additional money. 
Following request of the family members of pilgrims, MLA Modugula Venugopala Reddy spoke to Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu and requested to take steps bring back pilgrims hailed form AP. He also spoke to AP Bhavan Commissioner Praveen Prakash.

Tadikonda Leela and Venkata Veeranjaneyulu who  went to Mansarovar yatra on June 25 from Guntur city . Speaking to The Hans India, their son Tadikona Pavan said, “As many as 130 pilgrims were shifted to Simikot from Hilsa today.  I spoke to my parents who said they were safe. But they were  facing food, drinking water, medicine problems. It will take one week for them to start journey home. Women pilgrims are facing a lot problems.”
