Water released from Prakasam barrage to meet drinking needs in Guntur

Guntur: The Irrigation department released 1000 to 1500 cusecs of water to meet drinking water needs of people, according to Krishna Western Delta executive engineer Venkataratnam.

He directed to fill hundred drinking water tanks in Guntur district and 20 drinking water tanks in Prakasam district to meet drinking needs of the people. 

He further said that drinking water tanks in Chirala, Bapatla, Repalle, Ponnur and Jagarlamudi in Guntur district would be filled. Farmers should have to use water for nurseries during khariff. 

He urged the farmers to avail the facility. He said that the government had released water from Polavaram Project to Krishna Barrage.
