Police bust duplicate RTC ticket gang

Ongole: The Ongole police arrested a gang which was printing duplicate APSRTC tickets and using them for transport bill claims in their offices on Monday and sent them to remand on Tuesday.

According to B Srinivasa Rao, DSP of Ongole, the APSRTC Ongole depot manager Marella Srinivasa Rao lodged a complaint with the I Town police that some people were damaging the reputation and income of the APSRTC by creating duplicate tickets.

On investigation, the CI, Md Feroz and SI Nayab Rasool arrested Gonuguntla Venkateswara Rao of Kanigiri and his three accomplices Doddi Srinivasa Rao of Inkollu mandal, Atmakuri Venkata Sivanagendra Kumar of Ongole and Vemula Hanumantha Rao of Ongole.

The DSP said that Venkateswara Rao was working as a salesman in Sunpure Oil Manufacturing Company and it honors the tickets of APSRTC only to pay the travel allowance.

With the computer working knowledge, he used original ticket rolls of APSRTC and generated tickets for far distances and claimed the bills from the company for the last six months.

Inspired by him, the other three persons, who were also salesmen, resorted to cheating the company in the same manner.

The police seized computer, printer, ticket rolls from the possession of the accused and brought the generated duplicate tickets from the company as proof.

The SP, BS Yesubabu appreciated the DSP B Srinivasa Rao, CI MD Firoz, SI Nayab Rasool, ASI Baburao, PCs Ramesh, Mallikharjun, Ahmed Basha and Vignesh.
