Will address drinking water issue in Kodumuru: Lokesh

Kurnool: Minister for Information and Technology, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Nara Lokesh said Rs.149 crores have been sanctioned for solving drinking water crisis at Kodumur and tenders are likely to invite in a span of 10 days.  

The Minister continued his second day tour in Kodumur and Yemmignoor constituencies on Tuesday. During his day-long tour he participated in several inaugural and foundation stone laying programmes.

In Kodumur constituency, he addressed a meeting and said that the government, besides fulfilling the promises made for the welfare of the people, is aimed for the development of villages on all fronts.  ``We have sent a proposal to the Central government for enhancing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) working days by another 50 days and this would be integrated to agriculture.

With the digging of farmponds, we could able to enhance the ground water level.  Around 2.5 lakh farm ponds have been dug up and the NREGS worker was paid Rs.205. The government is determined to see that every family earns at least Rs.10000 per month, said the minister.

Further, the Panchayat Raj Minister asserted that he is taking the responsibility to ensure that every house hold is given a tap connection and for that the government is spending Rs.1,450 crore.  He directed  the District Collector, S Sathyanarayana to initiate steps for desilting of streams, lakes and farm ponds besides facilitating drinking water to the residents of Nagalapuram village.

Later he spoke to the villagers of Pylakurthy. Lokesh said Rs.4000 crores have been kept ready for farmers’ input subsidy. We are even securing the opinions from the people after speaking to them directly about the welfare schemes being implemented by the government.  Around 4.25 lakh sadikara mitras have been engaged to know the family problems at every household in the state. 

Nara Lokesh visited Nagalapuram in Gudur mandal and inspected the farm ponds and expressed satisfaction. He also visited Palakurthy village where he inspected drip irrigation system, organic manufacturing units and horticulture crops. He inaugurated newly laid road at Kunnur village that was constructed with a cost of Rs.2.15 crore.  He also inaugurated the Rs.9.18 crores newly constructed bridge at Tippanuru village.

Foundation stone laid for Rural Water Scheme with a cost of Rs.13 crore, lying of interior roads with a cost of Rs.7 crore at Gonegandla, construction of NTR Sujala Hub with a cost of Rs.3.6 crore. Inaugurated drinking water works at Nandavaram that was taken up with a cost of Rs.1.10 crores, Summer Storage Tank constructed with a cost of Rs.8 crore at Konna Kothili village.
