Anna Canteens an Akshayapatra for poor: Ongole MLA

Ongole: Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao said that Anna Canteens are nothing but Akashyapatra for the poor. He inaugurated two Anna Canteens constructed in the first phase in Ongole, along with Yerragondapalem MLA Palaparti David Raju, Collector Vadarevu Vinaychand and Commissioner of Ongole Municipal Corporation Sankranti Venkatakrishna.

After inaugurating the Anna Canteens at Kothapatnam Bus Stand Centre and New Vegetable Market, Janaradhana Rao said that the canteens will be helpful to the poor coming to  the district headquarters from a long distance on various works. 

He lauded Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for introducing the Anna Canteens which offer breakfast and meals at just Rs 5. He said that Anna Canteens are real tribute to the legendary leader, who worked for the development of the poor. He announced that the canteens provide food for 1,000 people daily and based on the demand, the number of canteens will be increased at various places.

Collector Vinay Chand said that the state government has made arrangements to open 103 Anna Canteens in 75 urban local bodies in the state. He advised the poor coming to various government offices to avail the scheme.

The MLAs, Collector and the Commissioner tasted the food and expressed satisfaction. The people, who bought the food, requested the management to continue the same quality in all days. 

Anand Babu opens Anna Canteen at Guntur Mirchi Yard

Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Anand Babu inaugurated Anna Canteen at Guntur Mirchi Yard here on Wednesday. Similarly, some more Anna Canteens will be set up at the RTO Office in Guntur city, he added. 

In a related function, MLA Ravela Kishore Babu, District Collector Kona Sashidhar and GMC Commissioner Srikesh B Lathkar inaugurated Anna Canteen at Amaravati Road.  

The Social Welfare Minister said that the objective of the state government is to take steps and ensure that people get sufficient quantity of food so that they may not starve. He said meals would be made available at Rs 5 at Anna Canteens.  

He said that such canteens were set up taking into consideration the problems of the poor. These canteens would be useful to farmers, who were coming to the Mirchi Yard for loading and unloading their produce, the Minister added.

District Collector Kona Sasidhar said that they would set up more Anna Canteens in the district. Furthermore, he said that they were inaugurating nine Anna Canteens in Guntur city. He said that they would provide quality food at Anna Canteens. He called upon the people to avail the facility provided by the government. 

GMC Commissioner Srikesh B Lathkar said that they set up three Anna Canteens in Guntur city. He urged the people to avail the facility provided by the dtate government.
