3 names finalised
Amaravati: The AP government has proposed three applicants for the positions of Information Commissioners under Right to Information Act, on Thursday. The proposed candidates are: Katta Janardhana Rao, BV Rama Kumar and Matangi Ravi Kumar.
Katta Janardhan Rao is a native of Kadapa district and has been working as advocate in High Court for the last 32 years. He is also advisor to the TDP legal cell.
BV Ramana Kumar is a former IPS officer who hails from Krishna district while Matangi Ravi Kumar is a retired IFS officer who lives in Guntur district. All the three candidates will be appointed as Commissioners under the RTI Act in the state, after approval by the Governor. The decision was finalised after holding three meetings.
On Thursday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister for Legislative Affairs and Finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu shortlisted these names. The Chief Minister’s Office sources explained that despite repeated consultations, the Leader of Opposition and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did not attend the meeting.
On Wednesday also, the officials invited Jagan Mohan Reddy for the proposed third meeting, but he reportedly said that he would not attend and suggested that they finalise the names for Commissioners. On the other hand, a separate notification will be released for appointment of the Chief Commissioner of RTI, officials informed.
