Hotels warned against dumping of garbage in drains
Rajamahendravaram: Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner NVV Satyanarayana Rao has warned that stern action will be taken against respective hotel managements who are throwing garbage in the drains.
Instead of repeated reminders, many hotel managements were not adhering to the corporation directions.
He said that dumping garbage in the drains is a crime and the corporation imposes fines on the respective hotel managements and also collects user charges from them.
The corporation was taking steps to clear the silt and garbage in the drains for free flow of drain water in the city.
But, because of dumping of garbage in the drains, drain water was not flowing and coming onto the roads, he said.
There was no inundation of low-lying areas in the city though it was raining from two days because silt and other garbage was cleared from the drains.
Corporation health officer Dr MVR Murthi, sanitary supervisor Narayana Rao and others were present.
