Chittoor: To protect the interests of private dairies including Heritage, the state government is hesitating to increase the price of milk, alleged CPI district secretary A Ramanaidu. Speaking to the media here on Friday, the CPI leader lamented that small and marginal farmers are quitting dairy occupation due to lack of support price for milk.

He made Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu responsible for closure of Chittoor Cooperative Milk Dairy. He accused private dairies of paying meagre price for milk supplied by farmers. The CPI leader recalled former Chief Ministers YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Kiran Kumar Reddy made attempts to open Chittoor Cooperative Dairy but failed. He stated YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy had assured of reopening of defunct dairy. He demanded that the state government should immediately announce price of milk as Rs 40 per litre.

AP Rythu Sangam general secretary Vijaya Prasad found fault with the government’s decision to purchase cows from other states only. CPI leader Nagarajan, Rythu Sangam leader Janardhan and others were present.
