Workshop on Additive Manufacturing held at SRKR Engineering College Bhimavaram

Bhimavaram: Additive manufacturing has applications mainly in manufacturing of various medical devices, said Dr PN Rao, professor of Northern Iowa University, USA. 

He participated in a two-day workshop on ‘Additive Manufacturing’, organised by SRKR Engineering College, Bhimavaram and Centre for Collaborative Product Development (CCPD).

Speaking on this occasion, Dr Rao said that additive manufacturing patents had expired in the last ten years. 

Now latest technology applied and tools are developed in additive manufacturing, particularly in the manufacturing  of parts used in critical places of  Aero Space Engines.

He said that in additive manufacturing, there are many advantages like reducing the product cost and on the other side there is no material wastage in product manufacturing.

D Y Ravi Kumar, professor, NIT, Warangal said that 3D printing and 3D scanning plays a major role in this regard.

The college principal Dr G Pardhasaradhi Varma presided the workshop inaugural function.

CDs were released on the workshop proceedings by Dr PN Rao.

The college Secretary and Correspondent Sagi Vithal Rangaraju, Mechanical Engineering Department Head Dr K Brahma Raju, CCPD Centre head, convener of the workshop  Dr A Balakrishna and coordinators  Dr V Durga Prasad, Dr Ch Someswara Rao and others were present at the workshop.
