8-day-old girl found abandoned in mud pit
Kurnool: An eight-days old girl was rescued from a mud pit adjacent to a temple situated on Nandyal-Giddalur high way by a coconut vendor on Sunday. The baby girl was shifted to Nandyal Government Hospital for treatment. The coconut vendor Rani who sells coconuts at the temple, says that she heard cries of the girl and found the baby in a mud pit.
She cleaned the mud all over body and wanted to keep the baby with her as she does not have children even in 10 years after her marriage. However, the news reached Mahanandi police station, the cops reached spot and shifted the baby to Nandyal Government hospital for treatment. Later, the cops alerted the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department officials.
The Assistant Project Director of ICDS, P Vijaya said that baby has consumed mud water. However, the condition of the baby is said to be stable. The baby would be shifted to Sishu Gruha at Kurnool after she is totally cured.
She said that the coconut vendor Rani, who has rescued the baby, is seeking adoption. But there are some rules and regulations that have to be followed. The police took up investigation and launched man hunt to trace the parents who have abandoned the baby.
