Andhra University to get facelift soon
Visakhapatnam: Following the HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao’s directions, the Andhra University managements started various development works in the campus. During his recent surprise checks in the campus, Ganta Srinivasa Rao observed empty alcohol bottles and uncleaned campus premises.
The minister directed the varsity management to clean the campus and to take beautification and landscaping works in the campus. With this the management, deployed heavy machinery and taken up the mission clean in the campus.
The management on Monday announced that beautification works would be started soon in the entire campus. According to Vice Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao, as part of beautification programme, pedestrian paths would be constructed in both north and south campuses at a cost of Rs 70 lakh.
Under the campus beautification programme, experts from IITs are being invited to prepare landscaping to make the Andhra University beautiful and give a new look on lines of international universities, the Vice Chancellor said.
Speaking on the occasion of completion of his two years term as Vice-Chancellor, Nageswara Rao said that multi-storied housing quarters would be constructed to accommodate about 100 non-teaching staff at Pithapuram Colony.
