Chandy flays Centre for failure to fulfil promises
Srikakulam: BJP government at the Centre failed to fulfil assurances made during bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, flayed AICC general secretary and State Congress affairs in-charge Oommen Chandy.
He conducted a meeting with party leaders in Srikakulam on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, he directed the party leaders to highlight the failures of BJP government and the loss caused to AP State due to BJP’s attitude. Congress party will focus on State bifurcation assurances and Special Category Status to AP will be the main agenda during elections in 2019, he said.
In the name of construction of world-class capital city Amaravati, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was looting the State in all aspects, Chandy alleged. The TDP leaders with the support of the Chief Minister were doing real estate business and neglecting welfare of the people, he said. Even YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had utterly failed to focus on issues of people of AP as the leader of main Opposition, he criticised.
Congress party is pro-poor and during Y S Rajasekhara Reddy regime, a number of welfare schemes were implemented in the State, he recalled. APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy, former Union Minister Killi Kruparani, former minister K Murali and District Congress president Dola Jagan Mohan Rao also spoke. On the occasion, district Congress leaders felicitated Oommen Chandy.
