Get approvals for pending designs by August: Chandrababu Naidu
Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to complete the pending designs of Polavaram Project and forward them to the Central Water Commission by August for clearance.
He said efforts should be made to get clearance for pending designs at CWC, during the 67th virtual review meeting on progress of the Polavaram project works at the Secretariat here on Monday.
In the wake of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s visit to Polavaram last week, this review gained importance. In order to speed up the project works and accept the second Detailed Project Report (DPR) submitted by the State government with enhanced estimations, Gadkari asked the State to clear some doubts.
The officials of Water Resources Department informed the Chief Minister that 56.53 per cent of Polavaram Project works were completed. They said that 76.20 per cent earth works, 30.10 per cent concrete works, 90 per cent of right main canal works, 62.15 per cent of left main canal works, 61.44 per cent of radial gates fabrication works and 93 per cent of jet grouting works have been completed.
Last week 1.6 lakh cubic metres of earth works, 30,000 cubic metres of spillway, spill channel and stilling works were completed. Of the total 1,115.59 lakh cubic metres of earth works, 850 lakh cubic metres of earth works of Polavaram Project were completed.
Coming to spillway, stilling basin and spill channel works, of the total 36.79 lakh cubic metres, 11.08 lakh cubic metres works of were completed. Radial gates fabrication works were completed up to 11,060 metric tonnes against 18,000 metric tonnes.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that Adavipalle reservoir would be completed by end of July, Nellore Sangam Barrage by August end and Mallemadugu reservoir works by the end of this year.
The officials informed that under Neeru-Pragati programme, 8.10 lakh farm ponds and 88,403 check dams were completed. Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, CM’s Principal Secretary G Saiprasad, Water Resources Principal Secretary Sasibushan Kumar, ENC Venkateswara Rao and other officials were present.
