Vijayawada municipal commissioner inspects collapsed wall in Gollapalem

​Vijayawada: Commissioner J Nivas inspected the collapsed retaining wall in 37th division (Gollapalem) here on Monday. He enquired the officials on how the incident occurred.

The officials informed him that as part of the ongoing building construction work near the retaining wall, foundation was dug for the construction. The retaining wall did not have support and due to heavy rain the wall collapsed.

Later, the Commissioner ordered the staff to clear the debris and construct the retaining wall and repair the damaged road immediately.

He ordered the officials to verify whether the building construction was done according to the approved plan. If found any deviation in the construction, it should be demolished, ordered the Commissioner.

The Commissioner also conducted field survey of the division on cleanliness and the flow of drain water and others. He ordered the officials to demolish unauthorised occupation on a war-footing at Raghava Reddy road and Ganapathi Rao road (backside of KBN College).

Division corporator G Aadilakshmi, superintending engineer JV Ramakrishna, executive engineer K Koteswara Rao, deputy executive engineer Srinivas and others were present.
