Rajamahendravaram: Andhra Pradesh State women’s Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari appealed to advocates not to argue for the accused who were involved in rape cases and other atrocities against women.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, she said lawyers in Chennai took a decision not to take up the case of accused who raped a girl recently and they were even beaten up in the premises of the court.

Everyone in the society should condemn the attacks and atrocities against women, she said.  The State government would punish the accused, she said. The Women’s Commission is conducting awareness meetings on women rights in the State in association with National Women Commission, she added.

She advised the police personnel to behave in a cordial manner when any woman or girl approaches them to lodge a complaint. The chairperson also asked the parents to give correct information when they lodge complaint in police station. Parents and teaching fraternity should tell about ethics and human values to the children, which is the need of the hour, she said.
