Ganta inaugurates new facility at King George Hospital

Visakhapatnam: Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao inaugurated Multi-Dispensary Research Equipment Centre at King George Hospital (KGH) here on Tuesday. The facility was established at a cost of Rs 1 crore. The state government has sanctioned Rs 4 crore for the research project and in the first phase, the new equipment was procured at a cost of Rs 1 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that with the help of the latest research equipment, the doctors could diagnose various diseases in the early stage. During the recent times, the state government has sanctioned funds to procure latest equipment, including to diagnose various cancers, he added.

Speaking about pending funds, the minister said that the state government has to sanction another Rs 8.76 crore for internal roads, Rs.4.7 crore for the construction of compound wall, Rs 1.38 crore for sanitation, Rs 30 lakh for borewells, Rs 40 lakh and Rs 1 crore for underground power cabling works. All the proposals are under consideration and soon the funds would be released, Ganta Srinivasa Rao said.

Later, the minister visited wards in the hospital and interacted with the patients. The minister enquired about the facilities and services in the hospital. Superintendent of KGH G Arujuna explained about various development works. Principal of Andhra Medical College Dr PV Sudhakar was also present.
