Nellore: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) district convener Kakani Govardhan Reddy said that the Chief Minister, who assured supply of power at Rs 2 per unit for aqua sector, is still an assurance failing to implement it.

He addressed the media on Tuesday and said the Chief Minister assured the power at Rs 2 when the YSRCP chief had assured it at Rs 1.50 only. “As the YSRCP chief had assured low power tariff to aqua farming while ruling party had assured when there is no other go. Still, they are searching almanac auspicious day for introducing the offer. Consequently, farmers are losing profits as they have to spend huge amount on power,” he said.

Additional Consumption Deposit (ACD) has turned out to be a huge burden on small and marginal aqua farmers, he lamented. Kakani said farmers are also facing troubles with fake seed, feed, and antibiotics and many others. He said ruling of the Telugu Desam seems to be fake where they failed to remember their promises. He said the ruling party failed to provide support price for aqua products.

“A leader in Nellore opened doors for kickbacks from the millers is now trying to save people who loot produces from aqua ponds. He is mounting pressure on the officials to protect main accused in such offences. We demand the police officials to act judiciously,” the MLA said.

He warned that they would stage protests and lay seize to sub stations in all mandals in association with aqua farmers demanding immediate implementation of all demands they had made earlier. Local YSRCP leaders were present.
