Dwaraka Tirumala Rao assumes charge as Vijayawada new CP

Vijayawada: Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao took charge as the new Commissioner of Police at the Commissioner’s office here on Thursday. He said that all the police personnel from the constable to the Commissioner will be available at the service of people. He said that protection of human rights will be given more priority by strictly following the law.

Addressing the media on the occasion, the new Commissioner said that a strong team will be formed to tackle the problems in the city and the security and safety of women and girl children will be given top priority. 

Mahila Mithra coordinators play a key role in giving assurance and security to women, he pointed out. Stating that there are many challenges to face as the Commissioner, he said that the common people should be educated on economic crimes and cyber crimes to prevent them. 

The Commissioner said that a cyber police station will be opened shortly as the infrastructure and equipment was ready. He said that awareness should be created to the public on cyber crimes as it would be difficult to catch the culprit after the crime was committed. He recalled that after Shubha Darshi Chits case, no big crime has been reported till date.

He said that traffic congestion was killing time which was a major issue in the city which should be addressed and in the coming days it will be resolved after discussing with the officers, he added.

Informing the media that there was sufficient police staff in the city to serve people, he said that he would seek suggestions from the public to give better security to them.

Joint Commissioner of Police Kanthi Rana Tata, Deputy Commissioners of police Dr Gajarao Bhupal, Shaik Nawab John, G Amarnath and other police officials were present.
