Grandeur marks Paruveta Utsavam
Tirupati: Paruveta Utsavam (mock hunting) festival of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara was conducted amidst fun and frolic in Srinivasa Mangapuram, 13 km from here on Thursday.
TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal along with senior officials joined the mock ‘Hunt festival’ enacted by the temple priests, adding tempo to the hour-long event.
Speaking on this occasion, the TTD EO said, Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple in Srinivasa Mangapuram is considered to be one of the oldest prime Vaishnavaite temples under the umbrella of TTD.
"Known to have come into existence in 15th century, the temple which is under the control of Archaeological Survey of India, was taken over by TTD in 1960 and since then the Kainkaryams (daily rituals) are going on in the temple as per Agamas,” Singhal pointed out.
Paruveta Utsavam was introduced in 2015 by the TTD, which will be observed a day after Sakshatkara Vaibhavotsavams of Lord Sri Kalyana Venkateswara who has been blessing the devotees who throng this ancient temple every day in thousands, he said. Tirupati JEO Pola Bhaskar, Temple Dy EO Venkataiah, AEO Srinivasulu and devotees from the village and surroundings witnessed the Utsavam.
