Bhimavaram: Veeravasaram sub-inspector N Srinivasa Rao has warned the youth of stern action if they indulge in ragging and harassment of the schoolgirls.

He convened an awareness session for students on ragging at Sri Maddala Ramakrishnamma ZP High School here on Wednesday.

Head mistress Prabha Manjari presided over the meeting.

Speaking at the session, the SI informed the students about harsh laws to punish the accused in ragging and harassment.

He called upon the youth to focus on study rather than wasting their time on illegal practices of ragging.

The student should spend their valuable time on studies to come up in life. Ragging and harassment would land them in jail.

Moreover, nobody offers them any job as their name entered in police records.

Their future would be spoiled as the cops register case against them, he explained.

The SI urged the students to inform them about ragging by anyone while going to or returning from school.

Secrecy would be maintained by the police and names of such students would not be divulged. He appealed to girls to have courage and complain about stalkers.

They should abide by laws while using roads and never violate order. He asked the minor students not to use bikes and other vehicles.

Parents of road rule violators would be summoned for counseling and punished if necessary, he warned.
