Thundershowers likely in AP State

Hyderabad: As the well marked low pressure area moved away and now lies as a low pressure area over east MP and adjoining south-east UP and Chhattisgarh with associated cyclonic circulation, the Southwest Monsoon turned weak in Andhra Pradesh.

The Met department bulletin said a low pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal and its neighborhood around July 21.Southwest Monsoon has been weak over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

Rain occurred at a few places in coastal Andhra and at isolated places across Rayalaseema. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were. Polavaram (West Godavari) 3, Maruteru, Tanuku, Bhimavaram, Koyyalagudem (all in West Godavari), Mangalagiri (Guntur), Chintalapudi (WG), Paderu (Vishakhapatnam), Chintur, Amalapuram (both in EG), Tadepalligudem (WG) and Peddapuram (EG) 1 each.

Nellore recorded the highest day temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, as the maximum temperatures are rising. The other temperatures were: Tirupati, Kavali 38 each, Ongole, Kadapa 37 each, Nandyal, Bapatla, Machilipatnam, Jangamaheswarapuram 36 each, Visakhapatnam Airport, Vijayawada 35 each, Nandigama, Kurnool 34 each, Kakinada, Narsapur,  Tuni,  Visakhapatnam, Anantapur 33 each, Arogyavaram 32 and Kalingapatnam 31.

The forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated places in the State from July 19 to 22. No large change during the period July 23-25 is the weather outlook.
