BJP, VHP leaders demand revocation of ban on seer

Nellore: Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) state vice-president M Vijayalakshmi warned that they would bring Swami Paripoornananda to Hyderabad if Telangana police fail to withdraw restrictions on him. 

Protesting the externment of Swami Paripoornananda by the Telangana police, the VHP and BJP leaders staged a dharna on the National Highway at Ayyappa Temple junction in the city on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering, she also said that the Telangana government has to face dire consequences if it fails to revoke the orders.  The VHP and BJP leaders raised slogans against Telangana state government demanding revocation of externment order issued against Paripoornananda for six months by Hyderabad police.

Vedayapalem police took VHP leader Menta Rammohan Rao, M Srinivasulu, Marem Vijayalakshmi and BJP district vice president Midathala Ramesh Swamy into custody for obstructing the movement of vehicles on the National Highway 16. 

Speaking to media, BJP leader Midathala Ramesh alleged that the state government has been trying to suppress the Hindu organisations in the state. The police have taken people who wear saffron dress into their custody, he added.

Vijayalakshmi lamented that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had not responded on the sentiments of Hindus in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh indirectly supporting illegal arrests of VHP and BJP leaders in the state. VHP leaders Ramakrishna, AV Rammohan Rao, P Balaji, Venkatesh and others were present.
