TDP protests against Centre

Vijayawada: The leaders of Telugu Desam Party, including legislators, took out a torch rally and staged a protest at Benz Circle here on Friday against the Centre’s  for justifying its stand on extending  all possible help to the state during no confidence motion moved by MPs of Telugu Desam in the Lok Sabha. They took out the rally from the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium (IGMC) to Benz Circle.

The leaders said that the BJP-led NDA government has no respect for democracy.  Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that the BJP had nexus with YSR Congress Party and Jana Sena for selfish interests. He said that the Centre has once again cheated the people.

He also said that the people would teach a befitting lesson in the next elections to BJP. Though the Centre did not cooperate with the government for the development of the state, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu introduced various welfare schemes and completed irrigation projects. He wondered as to how the YSR Congress Party and Jana Sena leaders did not react on the development related to no confidence motion.

MLC B Arjunudu said that they took out the torch rally for venting their ire at the Centre on behalf of people. He said that the Centre cheated the people of the state. Quoting the reply of the ministers in Parliament, he asked them as to how they were still supporting their injustice. He said that Andhra Pradesh lost its capital and everything due to bifurcation.

MLC Shariff said that the people of country would teach a lesson to Narendra Modi. He said that it was unbecoming of the Prime Minister to behave in such a way. He asked the BJP leaders as to why they were rendering injustice to the state against the democratic norms. MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha, MLC Budda Venkanna and several leaders were present.
